Greeting Second Baptist Family,
Weekly Pastor’s Notes

Thought for the week: A Living Sacrifice
Romans 5:1 describes laying yourself down as a “living sacrifice,” and that might worry you since another verse says, “Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:25 NKJV). This might cause you to think that living for God and following Jesus is not fun and a worthwhile endeavor.
In life you will need to make sacrifices out of love for God and others, and you should certainly strive not to give in to sinful desires yet be aware that each of us have many desires that are in line with the Will of God for our lives. That is why He promises, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4 NKJV).
If you let the Holy Spirit have His way in your life and “LISTEN” when He tells you to say no to selfish desires or when He urges you to crucify hatred, jealousy, and covetousness, you will experience dying to sin and the flesh and begin to live in the fulness of joy that God desires for your life.
