Greeting Second Baptist Family,
Weekly Pastor’s Notes

(Being a Good Soldier) â âYou therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.â – 2 Tim. 2:3-4
Paul looked to soldiers as a model of commitment and devotion to a cause.  Paul suggests that a model soldier prioritizes the wishes of a commanding officer and avoids the distractions of others.  A good soldier wonât leave their ranks to argue with others or to address their own affairs.  The primary mission of a good soldier is the mission that they have been assigned.
âSoldiersâ of Christ win by losing, patiently enduring suffering and responding to various  situations in life with humility and meekness.  Although the battle may be tough and the distractions attempting to draw you from your assignment are many, you will be most effective as a Soldier for the Lord when you learn to be disciplined and focused on the mission that God has given to you and following His orders Only from His Word.

This Sunday’s Scripture
Topic: âPatient People Procure the Promiseâ
Hebrews 6:10-18 (KJV)
10Â For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11Â And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12Â That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13Â For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14Â Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15Â And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16Â For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
17Â Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18Â That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
