Greeting Second Baptist Family,
Weekly Pastor’s Notes
Thought for the week: “ Setting an Example – Philippians 3:17
“Join together in following my example,” (NIV)“
Everyone who seeks God is leading the way for others. The question is, are you living up to the life of Christ inside of you, or are you slipping back into bad old habits and patterns? The Apostle Paul knew that his life was being watched and that his example mattered. The same is true for each of us today, all of us are being watched daily and our example matters.
Your children, your friends and unbelievers who surround you every day are watching how you live out your life for Christ. You may not think about it, but it’s true and Paul took that RESPONSIBILITY seriously as each and everyone of us who are Redeemed by The Blood of the Crucified Lamb should also.
To be a good example you ought to follow the example of others who are ahead of you on the path of spiritual growth. Paul says in Phil. 3:17, “keep your eyes on those who live as we do.” You set an example by following the faithful examples set by others. Moreover, you must have INTEGRITY. It isn’t about putting your best foot forward or attempting to look good in front of people, as you are really hiding the truth. But it is about how you handle your flaws and failures, how you deal with challenges and difficulties, and how you respond to temptations in your life which are all a part of your example. Determine to set a good example with your life. (Adapted from: 3 Minute Devotions – Barbour Books)

This Sunday’s Scripture
Topic:“Is He Lifted Up in You?” Pt. 2
John 12:27-32 (KJV)
27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
