A Word from the Pastor

(Don’t Forget to Pray) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phil. 4:6 (NIV)

You may know people in your life that you consider wise and intelligent. The bible has many illustrations of people known for their intellect and wisdom. God used each of them to accomplish His Will in the earth. But their real strength didn’t come from their personal abilities, but it came from them knowing the source of their gifts and the necessity of meeting God in prayer.

Prayer doesn’t replace knowledge, wisdom, or discernment; it transcends it. Prayer is inviting the God of all wisdom to participate in your life. God delights in trading His peace for your pain, His comfort for your confusion and all you must do is talk with Him. Thinking won’t get you out of every situation, but God “is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ask or think” (Eph. 3:20 KJV).

Always ask God for wisdom (James 1:5), remembering that the greatest wisdom of all is to come to God in prayer. (Adapted - 3 Min. Devotions, Barbour Publishing)
