A Word from the Pastor

(Delightful Prayer) Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

In Psalm 37 you will see that many prayers are answered, yet the word prayer is never mentioned. You are told to “commit,” to “wait,” to “delight in” the Lord, and then He will give you “the desires of your heart.” But the word prayer is nowhere to be found. How many things do you actually “delight in” – not just enjoy? There probably aren’t many.

How many other things must you avoid delighting in if you are to delight yourself in the Lord? Psalm 37 treats this process of shedding all delights other than for God Himself as the process of prayer. Prayer is the devotion to Jesus that strengthens your reborn spirit. Prayer is the expression of desire for God to work His Will in your life. The child’s eyes are on his Father. He loves what his Father loves, delights in what his Father delights in. That process for the believer is prayer.
