From Humble Beginnings to a Living Legacy
Second Baptist Church began with faithful Christians gathering in homes, praying, worshiping, and believing God for more. From those early prayer services to the incorporated church in 1911, the ministry has continued to grow through sacrifice, leadership, and the grace of God.

Prayer Meetings Begin
Rev. Charles Overby began holding prayer services in the home of John Smith in Pedricktown.
Second Baptist Incorporated
The Mission of St. John Baptist Church became the incorporated Second Baptist Church of Pedricktown on July 20, 1911.
A Permanent Foundation
Land was purchased, the schoolhouse was moved, and the original meeting house became the foundation of the church.
The Tunstall Era
Rev. King David Tunstall led the church for 32 years, overseeing major improvements and spiritual growth.
The Dorn Era
Under Rev. Dr. Edward W. Dorn, the church built its current edifice, paid off the mortgage, and expanded its community impact.
The Peterson Era
Rev. Dr. Kevin M. Peterson continues leading the church with a focus on discipleship, outreach, safety, and stronger fellowship.
